Back in the 80's,
I was really into music and radio.

I obsessed about trying to catch
new hit songs on tape.
Since 1982, and into the early '90s,
I regularly recorded the pop and R&B hit radio stations.

Every weekend
, I visited the record stores,
buying 45's and collecting any of the radio station's
free music guides and bumper stickers stacked on the counters.

22 Years Later...2004.

I started listening to all those old tapes again.
As I rewind and play through them,
I noticed how the styles of popular music and radio stations
have changed over the years, keeping up with the times.

Recorded along with the hit songs are the
radio stations' jingles, disc jockeys, and commercials of the day.

Many of the stations had their own catchy jingles,
designed to remind us what we were listening to, and
launch the excitement of more music.

The jingles were unique, unforgettable and played often.
We just don't hear jingles like those classic
WHYT, Cozy-fm, Z-95.5,
WJLB and WDTX jingles anymore.
When you hear those old jingles play again today,
they sound just as fresh and familiar
as many of your old favorite hit songs.

My old cassette tapes are now true "time capsules"
of the '80s & '90s, and Detroit radio
.

Hearing those old
favorite songs,
commercials,
radio jingles and DJs
play again is a real throw-back and
entertaining memory of the good old years,
when radio was the king of portable entertainment.

All these flashbacks inspired me to create this website,
a great and easy way to share our classic Detroit "retro" radio
recordings, hits lists, commercials and bumper stickers.

Enjoy, and thank you for visiting!
